Project overview
Velaw (formerly AvelaLaw) approached us to maintain and enhance their existing compliance and risk management tool, VELA, while preparing for the next stage of digital evolution. Their legacy technology stack had reached its limits in scalability, flexibility, and speed of innovation.
While continuing to support the existing platform, the DICEUS team partnered with Velaw to design and build a next-generation RegTech solution based on a modern technology stack. The new version of VELA ensures high performance, robust security, scalability, and seamless alignment with the client’s evolving business needs. It is a future-proof platform ready for continuous growth.

Velaw is a Swiss Compliance, Risk and Legal company with deep expertise in managing complex regulatory requirements and integrating compliance, risk, and legal processes. Their modular RegTech platform, VELA, digitalizes compliance and risk workflows, establishing transparency, and ensuring full controllability. VELA empowers financial services providers to navigate regulatory complexity with clarity and efficiency.
Business challenge
Velaw set out to transform and future-proof its compliance and risk management platform for financial services providers. The previous system had reached its limits – constraining scalability, customization, and the rollout of new capabilities. Velaw and DICEUS joined forces to build a next-generation, state-of-the-art RegTech solution. Designed for agility and constant evolution, the new VELA platform delivers full alignment with client requirements, business objectives, and regulatory expectations, while it remains ready to integrate emerging technologies and innovations as they arise.
Technical challenges
The project’s success depended on deep understanding of the Velaw’s business processes and compliance logic. The team had to design a new, scalable software architecture aligned with business workflows, ensure seamless data migration from the legacy system, and create a secure, future-ready platform to host new functionalities.
Solution delivered
We developed an MVP for the new VELA RegTech platform, built entirely on a modern technology stack – Python for backend and Angular for frontend. The solution achieves significantly improved performance, scalability, and maintainability while mirroring the client’s updated compliance and risk management workflows. VELA delivers end-to-end compliance coverage, a user-driven interface, and a secure, modular architecture. Its clean codebase and open structure make it ready for future analytics and built-in interactive reporting – the next phase of VELA’s digital evolution.
